Melbourne Zoo
Melbourne Zoo staff were looking for a way to keep the Exhibits glass surfaces cleaner for longer and at the same time keep unwanted bacteria off the surface to ensure both visitor and animal health.
The Problem
The Hundreds of visitors each day to the Zoo and its many animal enclosures constantly leaves Zoo maintenance staff with the timely task of cleaning down and sanitising all the glass viewing windows each day. Staff were looking for a way to keep the Exhibits glass surfaces cleaner for longer and at the same time keep unwanted bacteria off the surface to ensure visitor health and safety remains paramount while also reducing cleaning times and eliminating the need for the use of harsh chemicals.
The Solution
EziCleen was contracted to clean, prepare and coat all the shared glass surfaces with Diamon-Fusion® on the public side of The Lion, Orangutang and Reptile exhibits. Our protective coating works by chemically bonding to the glass forming an ultra-thin hydrophobic and oleophobic barrier which keeps the glass cleaner and more hygienic for longer as well as improving its clarity.
The coating is 100% inert post application and is safe for animals and is also UV-resistant, which helps to preserve the long-term stability of the glass making it safer for Melbourne Zoo’s permanent Animal residents. Once coated, the glass is also 10x more scratch and chip resistant which makes this a great investment by Melbourne Zoo as it adds protection against the constant contact from rings, watches, phones, and anything else visitors may hit or swipe against the glass.
The Outcome
EziCleen successfully cleaned and prepared all the glass, then sealed the surfaces using Diamon-Fusion®. The coating was applied to more than 150 square meters of Glass Windows and Exhibit Glass Fronts, keeping them easier to clean, more hygienic, more brilliant and better protected from the everyday wear and tear brought by the Zoo’s many visitors, for years to come.
